How to choose: start with what rides on top. A rooftop tent wants a rack set near cab height, which is why the upTOP Variable Height TRUSS adjusts from 19 to 26 in. If bikes or moto are the point, look at the Big Days Chase Rack builds, which mount bikes and dirt bikes in the bed. If you want gear to hang off the sides with the bed floor open, the Front Runner Pro Bed systems frame the bed for side mounts.

Will a bed rack fit with a tonneau cover?
Some do. upTOP makes TRUSS versions for soft tops and for the DiamondBack cover. Check the compatibility notes on each product page. (Soft Top Compatible TRUSS)
Do I need to drill my bed?
It depends on the rack. The upTOP TRUSS racks mount with no drilling. Front Runner notes drilling is required for its Pro Bed Rack Kits. Each product page lists the install method.
Can I put a rooftop tent on a bed rack?
Yes, that is one of the main reasons to buy one. Match the tent weight and closed size to the rack's listed load rating. The upTOP Variable Height TRUSS is rated at 400 lb on the move and 1,200 lb parked, per the maker. See rooftop tents.

Front Runner Pro Bed. The Pro Bed System mounts over the load bed, keeps side access to your gear and carries a full rack on top. The Pro Bed Rack Kit adds a Slimline II tray. Kits for the 4th Gen Tacoma Double Cab 5 ft (2024+), the 3rd Gen Tacoma Double Cab 5 ft (2016-2023), the Tundra CrewMax 5.5 ft (2022+), the Jeep Gladiator (needs the factory Trail Rail system) and the Ford Ranger Wildtrak and Raptor Double Cab (2024+). The Tacoma and Tundra kits need drilling.
Bike and dirt bike bed racks
