My Medic: first aid and trauma kits for the road and trail
My Medic started after a car accident in which missing equipment, missing training and a long wait for emergency services cost a loved one's life. Its stated mission is to give people the skills, knowledge and supplies to save lives, at home, in the vehicle and outdoors.
- Vehicle kit: the MyFAK First Aid Kit uses folding pages to keep medical and trauma supplies organized, with room to add your own, and a Hypalon MOLLE panel and straps to mount it in the rig. It comes in Standard and Pro.
- Trauma kit: the Micro Trauma First Aid Kit holds a RATS tourniquet, QuikClot hemostatic dressing, compressed gauze, two chest seals and an NPA airway kit behind a tear-away panel. My Medic rates it for 1 to 2 people and says to pair it with a general first aid kit.
- Trail kit: the Hiker Medic weighs 10 oz and covers blisters, sun exposure and cuts, with a space blanket and a whistle if you need to signal or wait out a night.
- Bike kit: the Cycle Medic Pro straps to most bike frames with the included straps and covers cuts, scrapes and road rash.
A common setup is a full kit in the vehicle, a trauma kit within reach of the driver, and a small kit in each daypack or on each bike. Get trained before you need a tourniquet or chest seal, and check kit contents on each product page.
