Water purifiers: GRAYL or LifeSaver?
GRAYL bottles and the LifeSaver Jerrycan, Bottle, Liberty and Wayfarer are rated to remove viruses, bacteria and cysts from fresh water. The choice comes down to how much water you need and how you like to drink it.
- GRAYL press bottles. Fill the outer cup, press for about 8 to 10 seconds, and drink. The 24oz GeoPress suits camp and day hikes, the 16.9oz UltraPress fits a cup holder, and the titanium GeoPress Ti and UltraPress Ti can heat water near a flame once it is clean.
- LifeSaver for bigger volumes. The Jerrycan holds 18.5 liters and the Cube holds 5 liters for camp and vehicle water. The Liberty, Bottle and Wayfarer are personal purifiers for the trail and the go-bag, and the Lifeline is a light straw filter for bacteria and parasites.
- HydraPak carries water, it does not treat it. Pair a Seeker bag or Force reservoir with a purifier.

Water storage at camp
The HydraPak Seeker is a collapsible 2 to 4 liter bag that folds to the size of a fist and takes most 42mm threaded filters. The HydraPak Force is a rugged 2 or 3 liter reservoir with an insulated drink tube. The Dometic GO Hydration Water Faucet turns a water container into running water, up to 150 liters per charge, and the Recon 360 Faucet fits Dometic Recon hardside coolers.
Tent stoves, camp stoves and fire pits
Heat for a hot tent. The Winnerwell Nomad and Woodlander are wood burning stoves for canvas tents in cold weather, and the Fastfold Oven works with any Winnerwell wood stove.
Fire pits. The Winnerwell Flatfold Fire Pit folds flat and keeps the fire off the ground, with a matching grill grate. The UCO Portable Grill and Firepit serves 6 to 8 people, takes firewood up to 18 inches long and folds to under 2 inches thick.
Light trail stoves. TOAKS titanium stoves run on twigs, alcohol, fuel tablets or canister gas. UCO alcohol and solid fuel cook sets pack the stove inside the pot.
Fire starters and candles
