Description

The GRAYL GeoPress water purifier makes 24 oz of clean drinking water in about 8 seconds. Scoop, press and drink from streams, taps or sketchy sources on hikes, overland trips and travel.

Why it works

  • Removes 99.99% of viruses, 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoan cysts, per GRAYL
  • Filters sediment and microplastics; activated carbon adsorbs chemicals including PFAS and VOCs, pesticides and heavy metals
  • Flows at 5 L per minute, about 8 seconds per press
  • One-way valve lets you add electrolytes and drink mixes
  • Wide RiverFlow spout for chugging or filling a reservoir
  • Beveled bumper slides into pack pockets and survives 6 ft drops onto concrete when full

Fit

For fresh water sources. Nests with the GRAYL 30 oz GeoPress Nesting Cup and Lid, sold separately. Replace the cartridge when a press takes about 25 seconds, or three years after first use.

Questions

How fast does the 24oz GeoPress purify water?
8 seconds per 24 fl oz, or 5 liters per minute, per GRAYL, with zero setup time. Fill, press and drink, then sip or chug, fill a hydration reservoir or use the water for backcountry cooking. A wide contoured spout delivers a fast flow for chugging and filling other bottles.
What pathogens does the GeoPress remove?
Viruses, bacteria and protozoan cysts, per GRAYL, including Rotavirus, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, E. coli, cholera, salmonella and dysentery. It also filters pesticides, chemicals, heavy metals and microplastics, and improves the taste, smell and clarity of the water on a single press.
How many presses does one GeoPress cartridge give?
About 350 presses, or 250 liters (65 gallons), per GRAYL. Once opened, use a cartridge for 3 years or until the press time slows to about 25 seconds, and an unused, airtight cartridge stores for up to 10 years. Replacement purifier cartridges are sold separately.
What is the GeoPress bottle made of?
BPA-free polypropylene #5, food-grade silicone, TPE and food-grade ABS, per GRAYL. Non-slip grip material covers the heavy-use surfaces, a comfortable pressing pad gives a large ergonomic surface, and an updated beveled bumper slides into backpack pockets. The bottle holds 24 oz (710 ml) and weighs 15.9 oz (450 g).
Does the 30oz nesting cup work with this GeoPress?
Yes. GRAYL offers its 30oz GeoPress Nesting Cup and Lid as an add-on built to hold the GeoPress for cooking and boiling on the trail. The bottle is made in Vietnam or China with a cartridge made in the United States, and GRAYL backs the GeoPress with a 10 year warranty.
