Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack Kit for Toyota 4Runner 6th Gen 2025+

Toyota 4Runner Build Guide by Generation: Racks, Armor, Sleep and Recovery (2010-2026)

CBI Covert front bumper for the 2014-2023 Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner is two different trucks on our shelves: the 5th Gen (2010-2024) and the 6th Gen (2025 and newer). Almost nothing bolt-on carries over, so every pick below is tagged by generation.

The short answer: buy recovery boards, an air compressor and a mattress first, then a roof rack and a camp kitchen, then sliders and one front bumper, and the rear bumper and fridge last. We compare roof racks from Prinsu and Front Runner, front bumpers from CBI, Body Armor 4x4 and DV8, and sliders from CBI, Body Armor 4x4 and C4. We use only published specs. Where a maker does not publish a number, we say "not published".

4Runner roof racks: Prinsu vs Front Runner

Which 4Runner roof rack should you buy?

If a rooftop tent is in the plan, pick a rack with a published load rating: the Prinsu Pro for your generation. On a 6th Gen, choose the Slimline II when you want a slide-out table under the rack, and the Slimsport when you want the lowest roofline.

Roof load

Use the lower of the rack rating and the roof rating in your 4Runner owner's manual. Count the tent and the people in it when parked.

Fit check before you order

2010-2013 4Runners: neither 5th Gen front bumper here fits. The Hiline does not fit Nightshade or Limited trims. The DV8 Centric does not work with the factory skid plate. Revo sliders do not work with X-REAS, and SR5 and Limited rocker trim must be removed or modified.

4Runner recovery: boards and air first

Most stuck 4Runners need traction and air pressure, not a winch. Buy these before steel.

Luno sizes the 4Runner by one question: do you have a third row? A 5th Gen without third-row seats takes the 4Runner/Defender cut. A 5th Gen with a third row, or any 6th Gen (gas or hybrid), takes the Full-Size SUV cut, Size S2. Add the hatch-glass screen on a 5th Gen for airflow at night. Luno lists its cargo hammock as not compatible with the 6th Gen.

Toyota 4Runner build FAQ

Do 5th Gen 4Runner parts fit the 6th Gen?

No. The 2025 and newer 4Runner is a new generation with different mounts. Every rack, bumper and slider here names its years, and the makers sell separate 2010-2024 and 2025-2026 kits. Prinsu, for example, lists one Pro rack for 2010-2024 and a different one for 2025-2027.

Which front bumpers fit a 2010 to 2013 4Runner?

None of the front bumpers in this guide. The CBI Covert is listed for 2014-2023 and the Body Armor 4x4 Hiline for 2014-2024. The sliders, the Pro Series II rear bumper and both 5th Gen roof racks do list 2010-2024.

How much weight can a 4Runner roof rack carry?

Use the lower of two numbers: the rack rating and your 4Runner's own roof rating in the owner's manual. Prinsu rates its Pro racks for both generations at 700 lb dynamic and 1,200 lb static. Front Runner does not publish a load number on the pages we link.

Which Luno mattress fits my 4Runner?

For a 5th Gen without third-row seats, Luno's 4Runner/Defender cut (67 x 56 in). For a 6th Gen, gas or hybrid, Luno matches its Full-Size SUV cut, Size S2 (80 x 53 in), which also covers a 5th Gen with third-row seats.

Does the DV8 Centric bumper work with my skid plate?

Not the factory one. DV8 lists the Centric front bumper as not compatible with the factory skid plate. The CBI Super Stock Covert works with CBI skids or the factory TRD skid.

Do the Body Armor 4x4 Revo sliders fit every 5th Gen?

They list 2010-2024 and work with KDSS, but not with X-REAS suspension. On SR5 and Limited models the rocker trim must be removed or modified.
