The Tuff Stuff Alpha II is the mini hard-shell side-open version of the Alpha. It sleeps two and is positioned by the maker for smaller SUVs, with the same quick setup and ABS shell story in a lighter footprint.

Application

Rooftop tents are not vehicle-specific. Your vehicle needs crossbars (left to right) that can accept 190+ lb, and the maker recommends crossbars at least 30 inches apart for proper support. Mount to a roof rack or bed rack rated for the tent weight plus people inside. Always check your vehicle manual for roof load limits. Maker mounting hardware fits crossbars up to 3.25 inches wide. The Alpha II opens to the passenger side only. For pickup trucks, the maker strongly recommends a truck bed rack and does not recommend placing Alpha tents on the truck cab roof. Maker positioning also calls this a strong fit for smaller SUVs, including Subaru-class vehicles, when the rack can carry the load.
